About the artist - Noongar woman Janelle Burger Inspired by her youthful journeys along the Swan River, Janelle Burger, an Indigenous Australian (Noongar) illustrator, captures the vibrancy of personal pathways in each pink stroke. Her work is influenced by pop culture, fashion, video games and food.
"As I made this artwork, my mind danced back to the days of my youth, those little journeys to and from school. Each of us had our pathways, our individual trails. For me, these pink lines are more than mere strokes; they mirror the winding Swan River that whispered alongside us on our way to school every week as we drove by.
